Frederikshavn Town and Municipality

Frederikshavn is both a local government area and its main town in northern Denmark. In Denmark, the country is divided into 98 municipalities that handle everyday public services and local development.

Frederikshavn Municipality covers several towns, coastal areas, and rural communities, while the town of Frederikshavn is the administrative and cultural centre. Together, they form a coastal community known for maritime traditions, international connections, and a close relationship with nature, work, and everyday life.

Sæby is the second largest town in the municipality; a historic coastal town known for its old town centre, marina, and relaxed atmosphere, blending everyday life with tourism and small-scale local businesses.

Skagen is Denmark’s northernmost town, internationally known for its unique light, art heritage, and meeting of two seas, attracting visitors while remaining an active local community. Skagen is the third largest town with a population of 7000.

Living in the countryside or a small village in Frederikshavn offers space, silence, and a slower rhythm of life.
